About this image

I spent a few hours out in the feeezing cold on 10 Jan '25, imaging Jupiter and Mars and was delighted to be rewarded with capturing a newly discovered outbreak in Jupiter's North Tropical Zone (NTrZ). It is seen as a bright spot clearly visible in the IR and Methane (CH4) band images, but also just visible in OSC. The outbreak was first reported the same night at 20:30 by Clyde Foster (Namibia) who originally captured it at 18:41, followed by Manos Kardasis (Athens), who being further east actually captured it about half an hour earlier than Clyde, at 18:07. I was unaware of these reports until after my session, with my first SER capture of the outbreak at 19:30. The annotated capture time of the OSC image is as a result of a later midpoint for the total captures included in the de-rotation.
