Title
Lacus Excellentiae
About this image
Good seeing. Moon 11.4 days, 87.9% illuminated. Lacus Excellentiae; I had captured some data whilst scanning the terminator and until I process it and hunted for the features on a map, I had no idea where it was, and I have to confess I'd not previously heard of Lacus Excellentiae. I had noted some long shadows whilst at the telescope and these have come out well, though the focus is a little soft. The most interesting shadow is in Hainzel W where it merges with Hainzel V (again I'd not previously known of these craters). This can be seen about half way from the centre to the edge at the 7 o'clock position and looks like a tall chimney. Imaged here with a 2x Powermate. 7300 frames sorted in PIPP down to 5000, and best 50% of these stacked in Registax, and wavelets sharpened in Wavesharp.
