About this image

Venus was imaged in a short window of relatively clear skies, although some high cloud was present which reduced the contrast of the nightside. Seeing was Ant III, becoming IV.

The image is a processed stack of 19,000 frames from two 10,000 frame video captures, with extreme gamma and contrast enhancement to bring out the nightside. There are some slightly darker features visible, which were consistent between this image and another obtained later in worse seeing. These markings are in reasonable agreement with the darker (cooler) features on the WinJupos heat map.

The bright streaks above and below the overexposed crescent are diffraction spikes from the secondary support, which I have modified to have only two vanes.
