About this image

I observed at a site away from home this evening, to try and avoid the bad seeing due to a long air-path over built-up areas. The seeing was noticeably better at the remote site.

For this session I experimented with different filters, specifically removing the Thorlabs FELH1000 for half of the captures. The image combines data from videos recorded with both filters and with only the Edmund Optics 1000nm / 50nm bandpass. The videos were stacked separately, using 80% (4000 of 5000) of the frames from each, then the stacks were themselves stacked in Registax before sharpening and contrast stretching. The combined exposure time of all the frames used was 38 minutes.

The darker features are reasonably consistent with the heat map from WinJupos.
