About this image

Return to M82. I last attempted this target in 2012 when I was still learning about astrophotography.

This image is the result of several nights of data gathering. I had the happy realisation that after midnight, M82 is reducing in elevation but maintaining a, more or less, constant azimuth. Therefore, I could centralise the target in the slot of my manually shoved dome roof, set up enough exposures to the end of astronomical darkness and go to bed. And it didn't rain.
