Title

Mapping the lunar South Pole

About this image

Mapping the South Pole of the Moon is of my interest. In this image taken on April 4 2025 I have identified Amundsen, Faustini and Shoemaker crater, which (50 km in diameter) is centred at 89.9° south, 0.0° east and is located between the Shackleton and Faustini craters. The Shackleton crater (near the South Pole) is just in the terminator. Libration is an important parameter for the detection of these craters located at the lunar rim. I will do further images of this region for complete map.
