About this image

A total of 10 hours of integration over 2 night (4th and 5th April) has produced this image of NGC4725 which is an intermediate barred spiral galaxy. The ring structure is an area of strong star formation. There is also a very strong gravitional imteraction with NGC4747 (in the lower left of the image). The latter also being designated as ARP159. ARP159 shows two strong tidal plumes. The shorter can be seen between NGC4747 and NGC4725 whilst the larger one (some 8 arc minutes in length) is going away from NGC4725.
