About this image

LoTr 5, AKA PK339+88.1,  is the highest galactic latitude planetary nebula know.

On an image with 6 hours integration it was only barely visible above the S50 camera noise. It was going to need a lot more data, with only a few days left of the challenge the skies cleared and I set the Seestar off to capture more photons.

With just over 15 hours of data the PN finally showed itself. A real hard target as set by Callum, as this months Deep Sky challenge.

I took the image over six nights using the built in dual band Ha OIII filter.

The image was processed in pixinsight, I used the Pixinsight Automatic Background subtraction routine rather than Graxpert to address the gradient in the image as Graxpert removed a lot of the nebula too.
