About this image

Palomar 7 is one of the more easily observed of the set (of 15) being relatively close and bright. It was discovered by Lewis Swift in April 1889 using a 16" refractor.

This image, produced with the PIRATE in Tenerife, shows more detail than usual for these faint clusters, most of which are smaller, fainter and more distant.

Distance from Galactic Centre: c.12,100ly. Mag. 10.34. Size 8.0'.
