About this image

Reminiscing about my teenage years in astronomy, I used my tiny finderscope to project the image of the Sun onto the wall in my daughter’s room. It turned out to be a great opportunity to explain the phenomenon of sunspots to my wife and daughter—accompanied by lots of "wow" expressions. :)

As the solar disk drifted quickly across the wall, I explained—much to their surprise—that this motion was due to Earth’s rotation. A lovely bit of family outreach this morning!
