About this image

This image is the sum of eleven good nights of imaging between 27th April and 22nd May, a total of ten and a half hours exposure time. I wouldn't normally add together variable nebula images taken over different nights as it would mask any changes to the nebula. However I made an animation of the 11 separate nights images and no significant changes were apparent, which suggests the current bright appearance of the nebula is stable.

The inset at lower left of the main image shows a magnified view of the nebula. The inset at lower right shows a contrast stretched view of the nebula in which the curving left hand side of the nebula can be seen to arc upwards extending almost to the top of the image.

The nebula remains prominent but continuing monitoring will reveal when changes start to take place, as they surely will.

That has to be one of the deepest amateur images of Gyulbudaghian...

Have never seen that faint feature on the Gallery.
