About this image

A faint band was recorded from 00:46 until 01:01 UT on the night of 01/02 June. I have been imaging every quarter hour from 24th May but this is the first NLC recorded this season. The average date of first NLC sightings from 2006 until 2022 has been 25/26 May but 2023 and 2024 saw a delayed start until early June and this is again the case in 2025. I presume the delay in NLC onset since 2023 is related to a higher level of solar activity.
