About this image

The recurrent nova T CrB is a binary system, a red giant and a white dwarf in an orbital dance of ~227.5 days, during which the apparent visual brightness currently varies between about mag 9.8 and 10.5. Following these sinusoidal variations T CrB has just peaked again at mag 9.5. This image from Aug 8 gives an estimate of 9.58.

Of course, we're all waiting for its brief eruption to mag 2 (or so). There seems to be as many different predictions as there are observers. In the meantime, keep recording its brightness in various wavelengths for astrophysicists to study this remarkable object.
