About this image

The complex ion tail is faintly visible now despite the nearby moon. The moon will be gone in a few days and so the sky should be a lot darker near the comet. I got a total magnitude of 8.7 this morning using a small refractor and the green channel of a colour camera with comphot. This is showing a pretty consistent brightening trend implying possibly 3rd magnitude in late October.
