About this image

Clear but hazy this morning but at least the moon has gone. A nice ion tail despite the poor conditions. The comet continues to behave well and my total magnitude estimate for this morning (from the green pixels of a colour image taken with a 72mm refractor) is 8.4. I'm increasingly confident that we will have a bright comet to observe in late October.

Nicolas Lefaudeux has done some tail simulations which suggest a nice, long gas tail pre-perihelion: https://hdr-astrophotography.com/.

Fingers crossed for clear skies around about New Moon in October.
