About this image

A 29 arsec planetary nebula in Serpens discovered in the MASH Survey (Macquarie/AAO/Strasbourg Hα Planetary Galactic Survey).

Narrowband data using the VLT obtained by POPIPlaN — the Paranal Observatory Project to Image Planetary Nebulae.

This image reveals for the first time the existence of a faint Ha outer shell similar to that of NGC 6543.
