A comet's gas tail can vary in a period of minutes since it formed by the gusty solar wind passing the comet at several hundred km/s. The tail on the morning of the 21st was very active with an apparent disconnection event. The tail this morning (Sept 22) was much less active. These images haven't plate solved so it is not clear what the scale is but it is worth doing shorter stacks to look for motion in the tail. This was clearly visible this morning over a period of less than an hour.
