About this image

This comet continues to brighten and it is on track to reach naked-eye visibility by the time it moves into the evening sky in mid-October. I got a total magnitude of 8.1 this morning. The gas tail to the northwest is faint but shows some detail. Not much sign of any dust yet and that is what would make the comet visually impressive.
