About this image

There is always a lot of detail visible in the inner coma of active comets and C/2025 A6 is no exception. The comet is moving fast (10 arcsec/min) so I've used short exposures here. The main panel uses a log stretch to bring out the high dynamic range of the image without saturating the central coma. The two panels show the coma at 0.56 "/pix (my sensor binned x2) with wavelet and Larson-Sekanina processing. The jets and shells are real and due to the complex physics of the flow of material in the coma. These are often reported by visual observers using large telescopes but are often saturated in images.
