About this image

I like to record bright, short-trailed Orionids framed against their eponymous constellation. Poor weather thwarted observations for most of the Orionid maximum, then good examples were recorded as the skies improved.

The upper image shows the meteor pointing back to the radiant near gamma Gem. In the lower image the meteor zips above Betelgeuse. Patchy cloud ruined some other captures of brighter Orionids.
