Palomar 2 (wide field) with a Dwarf 3

About this image

This is probably not the best instrument to use to image the Palomar 2 globular cluster (object of interest for January) but I thought I would have a go. This is the wide field view as seen by the Dwarf 3. It is based on 61.5 minutes of observation and is binned x2 and slightly cropped (all auto parameters in the Dwarf and in Stellar Studio). Although the sky was dark last night (the moon didn't rise until after midnight) there was a sort of thin cloud or mist which may have hampered observations. What I think is interesting about this wide field is how you can see a dark area of obscuration in the upper centre of the frame. This is probably the same obscuration that reddens and dims the globular cluster.
