Nice image David. I got an image around the same time which appears to show some jets in the inner coma in addition to the ion tail:

Could you run a Larsen-Sekanina filter on your image to see if you can see the same thing? Be careful though since the comet is passing in front of a 16th mag star on your stack.

Yes, possibly a "dubious" jet in approximately the same position as your image.

It was after a long night! I was tired hence not so long exposures as yours. Here's a screenshot:

Thanks for trying. Yes, I think your image is probably too noisy to confirm this but I have the same features on an image taken two days later (Jan 16.2) by Denis Buczynski so I think they are real.
