About this image

Here is a montage of Venus and Mercury captured in daylight on the afternoon of 9 March 2025.

Venus's crescent is rapidly becoming more slender as it approaches inferior conjuntion on 20 March. Mercury reached greatest eastern elongation in it's current orbit on 8 March, so it too is starting it's inward journey between the Earth and Sun, hence now showing slightly less than 50% phase.
