Title

Recurrent Nova AT 2026lck - Spectrum

About this image

AT 2026lck is a newly discovered galactic recurrent nova, one of only 11 known and the first to be discovered this century.  The estimated period is 9 years. https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=17801

This very low resolution spectrum taken 3 weeks after discovery covers the visible and near IR region out to 950nm. The nova is very reddened by interstellar dust with no obvious features in the spectrum below H alpha but several strong lines in the IR. Two prominent lines from neutral Oxygen are marked.
