Title

The Great Sagittarius Cluster

About this image

M22 is one of the brightest and nearest globular clusters in summer sky, located in Sagittarius about 10,600 light-years from Earth.

Containing hundreds of thousands of ancient stars, it is estimated to be over 12 billion years old. Its rich stellar population and large apparent size makes it one of the finest globular clusters for visual observation and astrophotography.
