θ Serpentis duos

About this image

Alya (θ Serpentis) is one of the night sky's most elegant cosmic duos. Situated about 132 light-years away, this captivating system features two nearly identical, white main-sequence stars.

Though they appear as a close, serene pair through a telescope, they are separated by roughly 900 astronomical units and are engaged in an orbital dance that takes tens of thousands of years to complete. Angular distance is 22".
