About this image

This nebula is a favourite subject. It has taken three years of short summer nights to accumulate 16.5 hours of total integration used to create this image. Recent developments in PixInsight, particularly the Multiscale All Sky Reference (MARS) database for accurate light gradient correction of Ha and Oiii data, has enabled the precise visualisation of the faint Oiii signal that appears to encircle the Ha of NGC6888.

In this image, the stars have been spectrophotometrically colour calibrated, while the nebulosity is shown with an HO-Forax palette.
