About this image

An RGB and Ha image of the only starburst galaxy in the local group.

I have not adjusted any colours in this image. The milky brown colour of the galaxy is caused by extinction (reddening) both by internal dust within IC10 itself and also because it sits behind dense dust layers in the Milky Way. Total line of sight reddening is estimated at E(B-V) ≈ 0.95 and 1.15 mag.

Image taken over 3 nights.
