M31 Season Approaches
About this image
Its that time of year when M31 in Andromeda sweeps into view again. Given weather i took the risk of leaving the S50 out unattended again. It has excellent framing and auto-planning abilities.
End result taken off the scope then processed in AstroArt9 (brilliant as always) using the DDP and histogram functions. End result has some nice colour definition and is better than I have managed with other scopes.
The dust lanes and spiral arms of this approaching giant are clear and the satellite galaxies M110 (bottom of image) and M32 (above left) are in shot also.
There is a gradient across the image to the right. I tried to remove but it messed with the galaxy also. So left alone. It was the result of either cloud or maybe just increased airmass. Cant be sure.... i was asleep!
