This mag. 8.8 Type III1m open cluster (little concentration, uniform brightness) is the Deep Sky Section's 'Object of Interest' for August. Found at the east end of The Coathanger asterism, it was discovered by William Herschel in September 1783.

Distance c.3,700ly. Age c.900million years.
