About this image

A low resolution spectrum of the nova to monitor for any changes. Hydrogen Balmer series emission lines labelled with HeII emission (at 469nm) below H beta with an OI line at 845nm in the IR. The other OI line at 777nm appears to have faded since my last spectrum on 4th September. Can be compared to the spectrum by David Cejudo on 14th September in the BAA database (over a narrower spectral range).

AAVSO data show V-mag ~11.5 and R-mag ~9.5 at the time the spectrum was taken.

Field of view 29 x 36 arc minutes with north up. Note H alpha emission line star at top left.

[Wavelengths were calibrated by comparing with A-type stars in the same field, e.g. bottom right, using the dispersion equation calculated by Nigel Evans].
