About this image

First attempt at Saturn this apparition. Excellent seeing, Ant II, occasionally I. A dispersion corrector was necessary because of the low altitude of Saturn. Initial data recorded without the ADC gave very poor results.

The two images are from different-sized stacks: (A) is the best 50% of frames from a single video capture; (B) is the best 40% of frames from 5 videos combined, and has 4 times as many frames as (A). Image (B) is slightly less noisy and has marginally better definition of the subtle mid-latitude cloud bands.

Three of the moons are just visible to the lower left of the planet: Rhea and Tethys beyond the outer end of the ring, and Dione close to the south pole.
