About this image

Sorry about the quality of this image - my imaging equipment is a bit basic.
Venus is currently not visible in the evening sky despite a reasonable elongation of some 28°. This is because of the poor ecliptic angle and Venus lying well south of the ecliptic. It is visible telesopically and I could see the crescent phase with binoculars. Venus will, however be very favourably placed in the morning sky from early November. I remember seeing it at a similar elongation in November 1970 when I first started observing the sky.
