About this image

Another pic using a Smartphone in Photo Mode with 30x digital zoom. It had Motion Photo enabled so it recorded a brief (1.5 s?) video clip and produced this stacked still image. (A very thin veil of tenuous cloud moved across the Moon, reducing the contrast a little).

I show these to beginners and also parents who have a youngster fascinated by the Moon. The adults are unsure about purchasing binoculars, a spotting scope or a telescope for what might be a passing interest, but they like being able to see some details on the Moon without added expense.

Whatever your age, why not take a series of lunar phase images with your phone?
