spectrum of SN 2022aaiq in NGC5631

A spectrum of Supernova SN 2022aaiq, a type 1a in NGC 5631 discovered by amateur Patrick Wiggins 2022-11-15 and currently ~mag14

The raw spectrum image attached
It was taken using my ALPY200 faint object spectrograph low in the north at an elevation of 22 deg (note the curved spectrum due to atmospheric dispersion)

Here reduced

and here overlaid on the best fit from SNID

Supernova discoveries by individual amateurs are getting pretty rare now (according to TNS only 13 out of 2411 confirmed SNe in the past year) Here is a list
https://www.wis-tns.org/search?&discovered_period_value=1&discovered_period_units=years&classified_sne=1&reporting_groupid%5B%5D=0&groupid%5B%5D=null
though there are also some discovered by amateurs operating in teams

Cheers
Robin
