National Astronomy Week is here!

National Astronomy Week runs from 1 – 9 February and the theme is Chasing the Moon across the sky through the week and exploring the objects its passes -including the ‘parade of the planets’.

We are encouraging everyone to go out and observe, and take their friends and family too. There’s a guide you can share, to get everyone ready.

You can download a chart showing what you can see and where – and why not make it an observation session by noting the shape and position of the Moon each night too.

But what if the weather is not good, or you can’t get out? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! There will be a nightly Livestream of the Moon, planets and beyond, from across the world (with many BAA members involved). Stay in the warm and enjoy the view with us.

There are events all across the country too – lots of activities to join in with.
There will be online astronomy talks at 8pm UT on Wednesday 5th and Sunday 9th – learn more about Pluto and Mars with our expert speakers, and ask them questions too.

So much to see and do – join us as we Chase The Moon

The British Astronomical Association supports amateur astronomers around the UK and the rest of the world. Find out more about the BAA or join us.
