50th BAA Winchester Weekend 2016

This year, the BAA celebrates its 50th BAA Winchester Weekend.

The meeting will start with dinner on Friday, and will finish on Sunday afternoon. Accommodation is available on site at Sparsholt College.

The Alfred Curtis Lecture 2016

Talks will include the Alfred Curtis Lecture, Black Holes and Spin Offs by Prof Katherine Blundell (Oxford University).

Including Dr Marek Kukula (Royal Observatory Greenwich), Pete Lawrence (Sky at Night), Dr Aprajita Verma (Oxford University), Prof David Rothery (Open University), Lee Macdonald (BAA Historical Section), Prof Melvin Hoare (Leeds University) and Prof Alan Smith (Mullard Space Science Laboratory).

50th Anniversary Reception

On Saturday afternoon there will be a reception to celebrate 50 years of Winchester Weekends including a guest appearance by Jon Culshaw and talks by Dr John Mason, Richard Flux and Alan Dowdell.


Full board for the whole weekend is £200 for BAA members and £225 for non-members. Demand for places is expected to be high so early booking is recommended. Day attendance is possible (see booking form for prices) but priority will be given to those staying for the whole weekend.
