Observers Workshop – Planetary Observing

A workshop to help you get the most out of planetary observation.

The cost is FREE for BAA members, Affiliated Society members. Accompanied children under 16 will be admitted free of charge. There will be a small entrance fee of £2.50 for non-members, which will cover refreshments but not lunch.

To book your place, contact the BAA Office by 15th September 2014. Spaces are limited to 70 places, and will be issued on a first come first served basis.

10:30 – 10:40: Introduction, Mike Foulkes
10:40 – 11:25:  Observing the terrestrial planets: Dr David Arditti
11:25 – 12:10:  Observing Jupiter: Dr John Rogers
12:10 – 12:55:  Observing Saturn, Uranus and Neptune: Mike Foulkes
12:55 – 13:55:  Lunch (1 hour)
13:55 – 14:40: Workshop 1
14:40 – 14:45: Short break
14:45 – 15:35: Workshop 2
15:35 – 16:05: Tea (30 mins)
16:05 – 16:55: Workshop 3
16:55 – 17:05: Wrap up and close

The Workshops will cover observing the planets, both visually and with CCDs, and how to use the WinJUPOS software
