About this image

Taken in November 2014, this image was something of an imaging milestone for me as my first successful capture of an accurately tracked 30 minute exposure. Though only a single frame, it does reveal the dramatic sense of texture and depth of these famous objects.

Unfortunately, after this promising start, I soon began to suffer various differential flexure problems during my attempts to take similar exposures. Having spent a good deal of time and effort failing to remedy the issue I eventually decided to switch to an off axis guiding system (which has been working very well ever since).
