About this image

It always surprises me what modern cameras and processing software can retrieve from the gloop of Sheffield seeing. This AVI was wobbling like a jelly, but the image gives a fair account of the complex terrain south of Moretus. I wonder what the great past BAA observers of the lunar south polar regions - Ewen Whitaker, Ben Burrell and Harold Hill - would have made of the techniques available to us today.

Bill, this is just great; are you sure you've not hacked into the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and borrowed some of their data :) It is simply stunning, so crisp and a real sense of depth. Great stuff.
