Title

Jupiter in very good conditions

About this image

On 14th May we had some very good seeing conditions in Leicester.  Seeing was consistently around AII, although transparency was rather poor with mist and haze being present.  These are usually the best type of conditions for planetary observing as it means the atmosphere is rather steady.  The image of Jupiter in the eyepiece was very complex- indeed there was so much detail at time, it was impossible to record it all accurately!  The main equatorial belts are rather active at the moment and show all manner of interesting structure.  By 2244UT the clouds came up, and put an end to any further observing.
