About this image

Very good seeing conditions are needed to image closer binaries and I was lucky enough to have excellent seeing on this occasion. Porrima consists of a pair of white F type stars of equal 3.5 magnitude. They are 38 light years away with an orbital period of 169 years. Currently they have a separation of 2.55 arc seconds and are slowly widening.
