About this image

After watching the George Alcock Memorial Lecture on line at the BAA Website yesterday I thought it appropriate to have an evening's visual observing with George's old telescope . Lovely views of close double stars with this telescope, a Victorian 4 inch f/12 apochromatic Ross lens on a Cooke mounting. Originally owned by Major Levin of Selsey an early and prominent member of the BAA.
