About this image

The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft is due to make an Earth gravity assist flyby on September 22 when it will pass 17,000 above Artarctica. It is currently quite faint (around mag 18-19) but is brightening rapidly. It is just visible on this pair of images taken last night when it was 0.01 au (1.5 million km) away. Predicted positions and magnitudes for the next few days are here.
