About this image

The Sony mirrorless camera allows me to try out some old Canon FD lenses. This image was taken with the legendary Canon 85mm f/1.2L FD lens which I have borrowed from Martin Mobberley. Martin used this lens for his nova patrol many years ago following the lead of Rob McNaught but when Canon changed to the EF mount all of these old FD lenses became useless. Until now. This is the result at f/1.4. The full sized image is here. The stars are definitely soft at the corners but pretty good in the middle. I'll try this lens at f/2 next time.
