Title

Light curve for the primary eclipse of RZ Cas

About this image

This is my light curve for the primary eclipse of RZ Cas that occurred in the early hours of 2018 Jan 8th.

Helpfully, the clouds  stayed away and I was able to observe the whole of the eclipse, although Cassiopeia was becoming low in the northern sky towards the end (and about to disappear behind a neighbour's conifer hedge.

With the whole eclipse taking less than 5 hours, RZ Cas is an excellent target for beginners ... a much better target than Algol, whose eclipses last around twice as long
