About this image

This small nebula has brightened between the POSS platesof 1953 and 2009 when Jim Thommes spotted it. It is small so challenging (note the size of telescope used here!).The star V900 Mon is an FUor variable and seems to have been born from the Lynds 1656 cloud and is some 1100pc distant. Being small, it is a challenge but it may be brightening still. One to watch.

It is in the centre of this image.
