This 50 to 120 metre wide Apollo-type asteroid was making a very close pass of the Earth and its closest approach would be late on May 15 when it was only half as distant as our Moon. UK observers got a good view of this Near-Earth Object on the previous evening when it was mag 14 and still over 600,000 miles away.

I recorded a number of 1-minute videos using OccuRec and they were measured using Tangra. The sky motion of 2010 WC9 was derived to be 0.01"/sec in RA and 0.42"/sec in Dec (increasing to 0.48"/sec), indicating that most of its motion was in Dec as it hurtled southward. The sky looked to be clear although I think some haze or thin cloud was present. The following astrometric results were submitted to the MPC.
