Saturn from Lowell
About this image
An observation of Saturn I made on our last night at the Lowell Observatory- again using the 24 inch Clark Refractor. This was one of my finest views of Saturn I've ever had- the detail on both the globe and the rings was very impressive. Interestingly, although there was a darker cap at the NPR, at no time did it look structured- I am therefore of the opinion that the Polar Hexagon cannot be seen visually and why there is no record of it's existence pre-Voyager.
