About this image

Mosaic from two images covering the Aristarchus plateau, Prinz and the Harbinger mountains. The very favourable NW libration means that the eastern wall of Aristarchus is well-presented, compared to the un-librated view where it is highly foreshortened. The seeing was very good (Ant II), so the rille inside Schroter's valley can be seen in the "Cobra's Head". The Prinz rilles system is not very visible because of the high sun angle.
